BAG OF RICE, TO SELL FOR 10,000 FROM JUNE- RICE FARMERS

The Rice Farmers Association of Nigeria, RIFAN, has assured Nigerians that by June 2017 a bag of rice would be sold at N10, 000, against N20,000 that its been sold now.
Mr.Aminu Goronyo, the National President, RIFAN,stated this, while speaking on the current development in the rice industry.
He said soon there would be massive production of rice because farmers now have direct access to fertiliser, saying with this, would definitely increase production and yield good quality rice.
According to him, there is now more fertilizer in the country and the farmers now have direct contact with it.
He also said, the agency has signed MoU where the fertiliser is
sold N5, 500 per bag of fertiliser, but now is a government policy.
“We have already achieved rice sufficiency in the last two years
because all the rice we eat is grown here in the country.
However, the government through the Nigeria Customs Service on the land
borders, including the high exchange rate, no importation on rice.
I assure you in the next three months a 50kg bag of rice would come down to N10, 000.
