MOTHER CLAIMS SON IS ALIVE AFTER JUMPING FROM LAGOON

The 35-year-old doctor's mother who jumped into the Lagos Lagoon off the third mainland bridge on Sunday, March 19, 2017, still believes her son is not dead and that he would be saved alive. The desolate mother, Chinyere Orji, believes her son, Dr. Allwell Orji, whose remains have yet to be rescued by a team of Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) officials, Maritime Police and local divers, urged people to stop referring to him as dead.
A relative of the deceased who spoke to reporters at the family house in Abule-Ijesha in Yaba, Lagos, said the mother, is a faithful retired and Christian banker, refused to believe that her son, the first of his Three children, is Dead, hoping and praying that he would be saved alive."You do not know what we've been through since yesterday, please respect our grief, not a grandfather who died and we want to celebrate. This whole issue has been difficult. The mother is upstairs, speaking to no one. Not even we who are very close relatives.People have been around him since yesterday to do nothing drastic. She still has to accept that he's dead. She does not even accept people's sympathies and condolences. As a Christian, she believes in God that a miracle might happen and that her son will not die.She believes that he is just gone and that he is coming back alive, "says the parent. After more than 24 hours after Dr. Orji jumped into the lagoon, efforts to recover his body turned out to be aborted.LASEMA General Manager Adesina Tiamiyu continued to give an update on the situation, insisting that the body is still to be recovered despite the fact that the rescue mission has been extended beyond the Orji square Took the fatal leap."We are always looking for the body, we have widened the search to go further than the point where it arrived, we told local men around to look out for any floating bodies and we hired local divers to Look around us.The patrol boats are in the water turning. We would keep looking for him. The family is traumatized at this stage and reluctant to talk about the issue. I want us to respect their wishes, please. We made contact with the family and expressed the government's sincere wishes for them. We will also come back to a time when they feel better because we would like to know what happened so that Lagosians and Nigerians can learn a lesson or two. It is an unfortunate situation.
But what are we doing? The driver is with the police. The police would be more involved in the investigation. If we are able to choose one or two things, we pass it on. I do not know of any suicide notes. His phone and his car are with the police.
