AIRPORT IN PARIS SHUT DOWN AS SOLDIER KILLED TERRORIST
The
prosecutors opened an investigation into terrorism tonight after French
soldiers shot dead a man at Orly airport in Paris, the second-largest
in the city, as he tried to seize a weapon. The airport was evacuated following the incident and all flights were redirected.
A police source said the dead had already fired on the security services in northern Paris and was a radicalized Muslim known to the authorities.
"A roadside police check took place in Stains (north of Paris) this morning at 0700. It became bad and the individual fired on the officers before fleeing," A national police official said earlier that The incident occurred Saturday morning local time in Orly, The soldier was part of the Sentinel special force installed around France to protect sensitive sites after a series of extremist extremist attacks.No information about the murderer or any other injuries was available. The interior minister, Bruno Le Roux, is due to visit the facility, located in the southern suburbs of Paris, the spokesman announced.
