SHOPPING COMPLEX IN ABEOKUTA COLLAPSES FIVE RESCUED ONE DEAD
The government of Ogun State confirmed the death of a woman in the collapse of an ultra-modern shopping complex Itoku popular market in Abeokuta.
State Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Mr. Dayo Adeneye, gave the figure while addressing journalists at the scene of the incident in the capital, in south-western Nigeria.
He also said that eight people were safe and five others were receiving treatment in hospital.

The commissioner also sympathized with the family of the woman who was killed in the incident.
At the scene of the incident, the southwest Coordinator of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), Yakubu Sulaimon said that equipment and those responsible for NEMA, Ogun State Fire Service and other concerned agencies were on land for rescue operations.
The cause of the collapse of the building, reported to have collapsed around 8:30 am, is still unknown.
