LASU Graduates First Class 8 out of 17,695
Lagos State University (LASU) said it would issue certificates of
17,695 graduands at its 20th convocation scheduled for May 25 and May
26.
Its rector, Professor. Olanrewaju Fagbohun, who said this at a press conference on Thursday, said the graduands were for the 2013/2014 and 2014/2015 academic assemblies.
Fagbohun said 6 241 graduands would be convocated for full-time program.
The rector said seven students made first class division, while 1,040 made upper second class and 3,271 made second class lower division.
He said that 1575 was the third class division and 206 would graduate with a pass.
According to Fagbohun in the external system, a student made the first class, while 1,016 made second class upper division. Said second division was 6,990 lower class, third class division made 767 and 10 students pass done.
Fagbohun said 173 students will graduate in the diploma program, five students with distinction, 44 higher credit fact, 72 made lower credit, credit 10 made, 11 and 31 pass asserted fact.
The vice -chancellor said that 2,497 would be convocated in Program Advanced Level. He, however, promised that the university would offer students first level automatic employment.
"While also be considered after senior students of second class. '' Fagbohun said the graduands have met the requirements for obtaining university degrees.
The rector said the 20 convocation would be special, "as it came at a time when the university was experiencing a dramatic turn around. ''Fagbohun said the installation of chancellor of the university also take place during the ceremony.
"The positive spin on everything within the university was made by the Lagos State government under the leadership of Governor Akinwunmi Ambode.
"The university will forever be grateful to the working of our noble state governor."
Projects, most of which are in advantage stages of construction, not only the aesthetics and class will add to the architectural landscape of the institution, but also add to the value of the quality of teaching and learning University '' he said.
Fagbohun listed the completed projects inaugurated include: twin N1.068billion the Faculty of Sciences building, the radio station LASU conference N40 million and Theatre at the Faculty of Law.
He said the ongoing projects include: Senate Building University, the library of ultra modern center, binding complex ultra-modern students' college.
In addition, there is the School of Communication and three blocks of 12 floors each of lecturers accommodation.
Well-meaning Nigerians Fagbohun urged donors to emulate as Chief Adebutu Kessington, Jim Ovia, B.O. Benson, principal last Molade Okoya Thomas and others by donating generously to the growth and development of the university.
He instructed the graduates to complete their bio-data and debugging as planned.
