EGYPT AIRFLIGHT MS804 FROM PARIS TO CAIRO DISAPEARS FROM RADAR



An EgyptAir flight from Cairo to Paris disappeared from radar with 66 people on board, the airline said. The Airbus A320 disappeared over the eastern Mediterranean shortly after entering Egyptian airspace. The Egyptian army has denied a report EgyptAir a distress signal was sent by the plane. There were 56 passengers - including three children - seven crew members and three security personnel on board the flight MS804, the airline said. It was flying at 37,000ft (11,300m) on the eastern Mediterranean when contact was lost at 2:45 Cairo time (0:45 GMT). In what is thought to have been the last known contact with the plane, Greek air traffic controllers have spoken to the pilot on the island of Kea, just south of Athens, and it "does not mention problems" Kostas Litzerakis civil aviation department of Greece told Reuters news agency. State of the Egyptian newspaper al-Ahram quoted a statement as saying EgyptAir rescue and search of the Egyptian army had received a distress call from the plane at 4:26 local time - which would be about two hours after the flight has disappeared.
