CULTIST CLASH IN EDO STATE FOUR PERSONS KILLED

Four people were killed in a clash between two rival cult groups in Benin, Edo State capital. There were reports of renewed war between cult members and Black Axe Confraternity Eiye, which led to the arrest of many cultists suspected by the police. The latest incident took place on Sunday night after an argument broke out between two people belonging to different religious groups in a popular bar along the road Sakponba in Benin City. One of them, suspected of being a member of the Axis Black, was said to have been injured during an altercation and was then transported to a hospital. Displeased by the development and apparently on a mission of vengeance, his friends would have attacked and killed three members of an opposition group in various locations in the region. One of the victims, simply identified as Lawal, was reportedly shot in Ezoba along Sokponba Road. His attackers said they attacked earlier his younger brother, leaving him with serious machete blows. Edo State Police PRO, Osifo Abiodun, confirmed the attack. He, however, said that the order had yet to determine the number of victims of the confrontation. "We made our response by deploying our people in the region; we are on a manhunt for those fingers. We are sure that, by the end of tomorrow (Tuesday), we will be able to stop those fingers in action ", the PRO assured Police.
