Armed men attack Kogi, Killing 2 in police station
According to reports, two officers were killed in an attack carried
out 12 armed men in the police station Osara in Adavi local government
area of Kogi state today May 19 attack.
According to The Nation, armed men stormed the police station 2 am this morning with the purpose of stealing the arsenal of the station and also released one of his colleagues who was in jail.
The armed men carted weapons and ammunition, and also released other detainees in custody.
The two policemen who died were killed while trying to resist the armed men.
Two other officers were seriously injured during the attack are said to be responding to treatment in, Lokoja Federal Medical Center.
The gunmen who allegedly operated more than two hours uncontested, is said to have torched a vehicle parked at the station during the attack.
The Police Command spokesman Kogi, Willy Aya, confirmed the incident but denied reports that were killed in the attack.
